a s i a 2 0 1 0 ...

Stay tuned to "e n t e r s p a c e..." in February as we'll be keeping it up to date in Hong Kong and Tokyo!

d o n ' t s l e e p...

Thank the Lord cause he just blessed us with a gift in 2010!

A series of confirmations have been released via Jordan Brand, but the one that I'm looking most forward too is the release of the Air Jordan III (White / Fire Red - Cement Grey). You may recognize this model as the one MJ wore while solidifying his second slam dunk championship. Rumour is that this model will be releasing with the Air Jordan II in a special package called the "Slam Dunk" pack with the "Nike Air" on the heel. Think what you want but we all know GH likes to throw out some rumours to keep the Internet a buzzing!

Will YOU be copping? You know I'll be tripling up on these...

s t o r a g e

Ever since I started buying shoes, I've always had the same problem: how/where do I store them? Before getting hardcore into Nike, I use to buy a lot of Vans. I wouldn't keep the box so I wasn't really stacking them in the traditional way. To solve that issue, I bought those over-the-door shoe racks. I actually bought two of them, one for my slip ons, and another for my dressier shoes. These racks actually work really well for slim (width wise) shoes and provide a better visual as you can see everything at once. Moving to present day, I still have those shoe racks, but I'm rarely buying slip ons. The problem that I face today is the same as before, but with different shoes: how/where do I store them?

Learning from my previous mistake, and like most sneakerheads these days, I now keep the box. This allows me to conveniently stack all my new sneakers in a some what manageable fashion. However, this method is not without flaw. (1) Like with Like. If you are like me, whenever I get a new pair, I just put the box at the top of the lowest stack. There was absolutely no design to each stack. (2) Weight Distribution. You cannot stack all your heavy shoes at the top of the stack, otherwise the boxes near the bottom will deform due to the weight pressure. (3) Last In-First Out. When I'm done wearing my shoes for the day and put them back in the box, I put the box on the top of the stack and not necessarily back from where I got it. I also have a tendency to wear what is on the top of my stack. This is likely all due to laziness on my part.

Recently, I have completely overhauled my entire operation. That's right, I've re-stacked. To solve some of the above issues, I've put all of my similar shoes together. Jordans, AM1s, AM90s, Other Nikes, and Others. The "Other" stack includes my Alifes, Lindebergs, Fred Perry's, etc.
I was going to put my Adidas' in the Other stack, but then that stack would have been too high, so I just evenly distributed them over three stacks. To address the weight distribution issues, I've ensured to put the bigger and heavier boxes near the bottom of each stack. I've also angled every other both at about 45 degrees. This allows the weight to be distributed over the center of each box (at least that is my intention). The third and final issue cannot really be addressed by re-stacking. It's more of a personal thing. I have to make a conscious effort to put each shoe back from where they were in the stack.

Hit us with some feedback and let us know how you stack (or dont stack) your kicks.

Jordan Brand recently blessed us with a true retro in the Air Jordan VI varsitys and they don't seem to be slowing down with the retros!

If you may recall, the AJVI is one of the least retroed models from the line but that is poised to change this year with the plethora of new colourways slated to drop this year. We already know of four confirmed colourways; Motorsports, Oreos, White/Varsity-Reds and the Pistons but the peeps over @ marqueesole have dropped a new colourway from the brand. The new colourway dubbed the Lakers colourway contains a combination of black suede and leather on the upper with purple and yellow contrast stitching. Although I know many ppl have love for this model, is it just me or have the team colourways started to not do this model justice?

I personally HATE the Pistons colourway cause I think they look like fakes and now these Lakers seem just as bad if not worse... JB what were you thinking? Seriously, why not stick with the originals or something dope like the Motorsports? If you're listening JB why not do this model justice but putting up a citrus colourway or even a flint colourway? I'm sure you'd have more heads lining up for those joints than these models that look worse than some fakes out there!

Seriously, ppl like subtle colourways or colourways that don't look worse than those on FAKE sites!

What have I gotten myself into?

To most people, restricting your sneaker consumption wouldn't seem that difficult. However, if you're one of those individuals who love sneakers, you'll surely understand my situation. With the current rumour mill and the looming Jordan Brand releases slated for the 25th anniversary, here are my (tentative...) 6.

Peep the list and share YOUR thoughts.

1. Adidas ZX Boat - "Yoda" (Adidas)
2. Air Jordan Slam Dunk Pack - AJ3 & AJ3 (Jordan Brand) ~ "Rumoured Release"
3. Air Jordan XI Retro - "Concords" (Jordan Brand) ~ "Rumoured Release"
4. Zoom Kobe V - "All Stars" (Nike)
5. Air Jordan VI Retro - "Motorsports" (Jordan Brand)
6. Air Jordan VI Retro - "White\Varsity-Red" (Jordan Brand)

Now peep the list that will make me pay the penalty if THEY do release this year:

1. Air Jordan IV Retro - "White\Black (Cement)" ~ "Rumoured Release"
2. Nike Air Max 95 - "Neons"
3. Zoom Lebron VII - "Dunkmans"

You may be asking yourself why doesn't these lists contain the Air Jordan VI Retro (Black\Varsity-Red) release slated for this Saturday? Cause I copped them back in December!

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are arguably the greatest one-two punch in NBA history (did Malone-Stockton win anything...). Jordan had his Js and Pippen had his Nike Air Pippen`s. You may also remember Pippen rockin the Air More Uptempo during the Olympics (the shoe with AIR across the side). For some reason, Nike decided to create a hybrid of the Uptempo`s in somewhat of a Rasta colourway.I really hope these never see the light of day!

What do YOU think?

d o n ' t s l e e p...

Early last month we posted some details surrounding the much anticipated Star Wars collabo with Adidas.

In the last month a number of those releases have dropped and a few local shops like Livestock have already started to sell these kicks. With all the hype and love surrounding this collabo, there is still one model which has yet to drop, the "Yoda" boats. Scheduled to drop sometime shortly we here @ e n t e r s p a c e... have a first look at this crazy shoe.

Be sure to stop by your local shop to pick these up when they release cause these are just crazy!

Enjoy!

P i c k U p s: P A R T II ...

With Fatz post from earlier this week regarding pick ups, I thought I'd share some pickups I had while in Cali...

Although I was in L.A., I didn't end up copping that many pairs of kicks. Here are my pick ups from late 2009 which consists of the Nike 1/2 Cents in the San Antonio colourway and the Air Jordan XII (White/Varisty-Red) retro. In my opinion this colourway of the Air Jordan XII was one of the best retros to be released this year with the obvious exception of the Space Jam. The build quality is on point and another main reason why these are so sick and I think are the second best Jordan retro to come out this year, they've NEVER been retroed since their initial release back in 1997!

Jordan Brand, thank you!

With the NBA All Star game coming up shortly, the big boys always have some nice exclusives poppin up for their signature players. This year is no different!

Nike has fired the first shot with a plethora of all star exclusives from the Nike Air Force Ones to the Zoom LBJ in the hardwood blue colourway. With all these kicks, one in particular sticks out from the bunch, the Nike Zoom Kobe V. If you've been surfin the net you've probably already seen the hardwood styled colourway in the traditional west colourway of red. This was done intentionally to contrast the blue LBJs. Normally I'm not a big fan of Kobe's kicks (doesn't mean I don't like him as a player lol) but these are bananas! First off I love red kicks, secondly the translucent sole is just the icing on the cake. These bad boys are droppin Feb 12, 2010 in select Foot Locker and HOH locations. Here's hoping that these aren't only a Stateside release cause these are 6 worthy for sure!

Will YOU be coppin?

R e e b o k x W C 2 0 1 0

As an avid footy fan, I can't wait until the World Cup. It turns occasional fans into hardcore addicts and seems to bring out the national pride in everyone. Flags waving, whistles blowing, jerseys wearing, and now, kicks rocking. In honour of this year's world cup being held in South Africa (the first time in Africa), Reebok has released a couple of shoes inspired by perhaps the greatest national team of all time and perhaps the greatest underachievers of recent history (that honour would have went to Spain had they not won the Euros in 2008). Both shoes sit on top of the Reebok Classic Leather, and feature the same colour silhouette - the teams national colours on the heel and midsole. The shoes also feature gold detailing and Star(s) on the heel. You will notice there are five times the amount of stars on the Brazil version than on the England version. There is a good reason for this...Brazil has won the World Cup five time; England once.

P i c k U p s : P A R T I

Welcome to the inaugural Pick Ups post. In these posts, we will be showcasing some of the kicks we recently.....well....picked up. This isn't about bragging or boasting about your collection, but about reminding our readers about what's out there. Whether we pick up recent drops, beaters, vintage kicks or anything in between, you can bet we'll blog about it. On to my recent pick ups.

Three of my recent pick ups just happen to be Jordans. Self admittedly, I'm not what most consider a Jordan-head, but I definitely appreciate them; I to XIs in particualr. I copped the Nylon Sapphire Is in April and the True Blues in the summer. Those were my first two Js. But recently, I was able to scoop up some pretty classic Js, including the 2001 Black Cement IIIs...with the NIKE AIR on the back. They weren't deadstock but very close. I've rocked them a few times and they've definitely caused some sore necks.

At the same time I picked up the IIIs, I picked up the black/metallic silver Vs. Those are DS and I'm very hesitant to rock them. Being winter, it's making my decision to not wear them pretty easy, but I'll probably have a tough decision to make come May or June. Last week, I copped the Fire Red Vs (not the CDP version). Got em on eBay for 80 (plus shipping) so I think that's a pretty decent deal for VVVNDS.

I don't know how much Maxcak will be contributing to these posts considering he's limiting his pick ups. But hit us up in the comments section and let us know some of your recent pick ups.

Nike Talk is speculating that the Air Jordan XI Concords AND Cool Grays will be dropping in the latter half of 2010, specifically October for the Concords and during the holiday season for the Cool Grays. These timeframes or even the release aren't confirmed yet, but as more information is leaked, you can bet your sweet ass we'll have the info. If this does indeed become the "troof" then maxcak is in for a tough 2010. Better start saving those pennies.

t h e c h a l l e n g e ...

To those who are close to me or those who are with me on the reg, you know that I love a fresh pair of kicks...

In an effort to help myself cut down on my sneaker consumption, I've created a challenge for myself. 6 kicks all year long starting 01/01/10, any additional purchases after the first 6 pairs will cost me a penalty of an additional 100CAD per pair... With this year being Jordan's 25th Anniversary and me being a huge Jordanhead, it's crazy I know!

I do have a buffer period during my trip to sneaker heaven, Tokyo. But don't worry although I can cop without penalty during this trip you all know that things are never cheaper in Japan lol

Follow the journey and peep your thoughts on my final tally for the year!

Bret "the Hitman" Hart, a founding member of the Hart Foundation and perhaps the reason I started watching wrestling (i dont watch it anymore), made is return to the WWE last night on Raw. Forget about him burying the hatchet with Shawn Michaels or getting screwed (again) by Vince McMahon...check out the Black-on-Gray true flights the Hitman is rocking.

k i c k s t a r t m o n d a y s: a i r m a x 9 7...

This week we take a look at another great sneaker from the Nike vault from their best decade, the 90's! This week we take a much needed look at the Air Max 97.

The Nike Air Max 97 first debuted in 1997 following the much appreciated Air Max 95. A great followup to the iconic AM95, the AM97 first debuted in the infamous Silver and Varisty-Red colourway. This sneaker which was made with running in mind as all early Air Maxes were, featured a visible air unit that encompassed the entire sole of the sneaker. Pushing the line even more, this sneaker contained one of the longest visible air unit to date and was furthered accented with 3M piping along the upper. The sneaker which was a low top fell just under ones' ankle and simply popped with the metallic mesh like upper. This sneaker much similar to its other AM brothers has been released in a plethora of colourways and also recently received a retro last year deemed the Air Max 97'X.

My fond memories of this sneaker once again falls to my boy Vic who also sported these joints during HS. Much similar to the AM65 Neons he owned these kicks popped and I knew I needed a pair. I was fortunate enough to cop a pair of these during last year's retro and rumour has it that they will be re releasing them again alongside the AM OG series rumoured to be dropping in 2010.

Will YOU be coppin them?

"this is a new year. different design...different state ah mind"

f o r m a l a d i e s : A F 1 H i S u p r e m e L E

where ma ladies at? These joints are crazy! Featuring an all-black, patent leather, pebble-like pattern with gold accents throughout the shoe and a canvas strap to top it off. We've seen this new pebble pattern available at 21 Mercer's Bespoke Nike Air Force 1 lab. Fellas, definitely think about sizing up and grabbing a pair of these.
