HUPBOX - Storage Solutions...

Storing sneakers have always been a problem especially when you receive your sneakers in a damaged box or no box at all.  For many, this has become a problem especially if you're a sneakerhead like myself.

In the quest to find a good storage solution, I found out about HUPBOX.  From the HUPBOX website, they provided the following description of their product:

"The HUPBOX is constructed of high-quality, impact-resistant acrylic. From a visual standpoint, the HUPBOX provides a 360-degree clear view of the box's contents and provides the perfect display option for your most prized sneaker and footwear possessions as well as a good storage option."

Curious to learn more about their product, I reached out to HUPBOX who was super helpful throughout the ordering process.  I put in my order a little while ago and received my HUPBOX earlier today.  Upon first inspection, I noticed the care HUPBOX put into packing their product to ensure no damage was made during the shipping process.

If you're looking for a way to store your grails or heat, seriously consider HUPBOX.

NSW Lunar Orbit+

The NSW guys have been killing it recently with their innovative designs on some of their runners. Their "Lunar" series, which features their patented lunar foam sole, have been turning some serious heads. With the popularity of the Lunar Rejuven8 and the Lunar Woven Chukka, it was no surprise that a new model would be added to the line up.

Coming 2011, NSW is set to release the Lunar Orbit+. The Lunar Orbit+ features an asymmetrical zip enclosure and 3 layer mesh upper. Subtle hints can be seen throughout the shoe which give it an added flair.

Be sure to grab these shoes when they drop cause not only will they be super comfy and serve as an awesome summer shoe, I'm confident these will become highly coveted years after their drop!

Best Cell Phone Dongle (To Date)...

If you're one of those ppl who use their cell phones to snap pics any chance you get this is the one accessory you must have. The peeps over at Photojojo have recently released on their webstore a portable camera lens that attaches to virtually any phone via a secure magnetic ring (don't worry, it won't affect your phone).

The site claims that this attachment is the "Zeiss" to your camera phone and boasts that it can increase both the size and quality of your photos. I don't know about you but for $40USD (Fisheye and Wide Angle/Macro lense combo) you can't go wrong!

maxcak's Top 10 Essentials (Part 2)...

Following up on Part 1 of my Top 10 Essentials list, here are 6 - 10.

6. French Cuff Dress Shirt - Everyone will need to wear a suit at some point in their life and with that you should always pair up the suit with a nice shirt underneath. Like most ppl, I'm not a huge fan of rocking dress shirts all the time but when I do I love rocking a nicely fitted French Cuff Dress Shirt. Nothing screams "007" more than a nice black suit with a sleek white dress shirt and cuff links. I recommend the H&M Slim Fit French Cuff, good fit better value.

7. New Era Fitted - At some point in your life you've owned a ball cap of some sort. I'm no exception and my hat of choice are the new era fitteds. Although many might suggest the fedora, bowler, paper boy or kangol, nothing beats a good ball cap. You can rock it in almost every outfit with the exception of formal attire and still be stylish without looking like a fool. An item that trancends generations, you have so many options in terms of colours and design, not to mention the different ways you can sport the hat as well. I recommend you're black/black (any sporting team or company) version cause it goes with everything!

8. Vans Authentic - I know most of you are probably thinking why I didn't put a pair of Jordans in this list but lets face it, the vans authentic are more versatile than your average Jordan. With a classic and simple look, you can sport these in almost every outfit as well. Rock them with khakis, jeans, shorts, you name it! The options are endless and the price makes it a more cost effective alternative to your other casual kicks.

9. iTouch/iPhone - Although I'm a BB guy, no one can deny the need to bump to some nice beats while enjoying the summer weather. Considering that Apple has a stronghold on the mp3 market, it's only fitting to include their mp3 giant on this list!

10. "Safari" Shirt - So I know most ppl are on the "Chambray" shirt since its the big thing right now but I'm still sticking with the "Safari" shirt from last season. At the end of the day its all about comfort and looks and who can deny the sleek and ruggedness of this item? Get it "Olive Drab" or "Flat Black"!

maxcak's Top 10 Essentials (Summer Edition - Part 1)...

Since we're on the Top 10's tip, I figured I compile a list of my Top 10 Essentials everyone should have right now.

Peep my list below:

1. "Black/Black" Watch - Every gent needs a good watch and what better way to tell time than with a nice, yet fashion friendly piece. The whole "All Black Everything" movement is still going somewhat strong but nothing screams sleek than an all black watch. Some personal fav's are the Nixon 42-20 (Black/Black/White), Timex TX and Meister.

I would suggest copping a carbon fibre watch since those appear to be the next thing but you'll also be spending some serious coin for one of those. I would suggest the Oris for those looking @ CF.

2. Classic "Dark Framed" Sunglasses - Summertime means patios and sun which means its time to bring out the shades. What better way to protect your eyes than with some sunglasses! My personal favs are the Ray Ban Wayfarer Classics but special mention goes out to Supers as well who are killing the spectacle game at the moment. Trends come and go but classics last a lifetime!

3. Overnight/Tote Bag - Now I know most of you are probably thinking that these bags aren't very masculine but lets be real here; backpacks should be used for school/camping and duffle bags should be left for the gym. When picking a bag to lug your stuff around for an overnight stay at your lady friends, its important to get something that does its job well and also looks good while doing it. I suggest Herschel's tote, its got enough personality and is sneakerhead friendly!

4. Selvage Denim - Jeans are always a good alternative to your day to day uniform and selvage is where it's at! Everyone owns a pair of jeans that they throw on during the weekends and just love. A new spin on denim is the emergence of selvage denim which boasts greater quality and build than your standard denim (identified by the red stiching along the inseam of the pant leg). When growing up, folding your jeans were never the "cool" thing to do, however with selvage, folding has never looked so good! I suggest Cheap Monday's, they're a good fit and look great!

5. The "Polo" Shirt - Another staple in any man's wardrobe, the polo shirt is considered formal enough to rock at work without looking childish while still being cool in the streets. Granted you get one that fits you and not one that you're swimming in. The right polo will fit you like a glove and hug you in all the right spots. You'll look smart and trendy at the same time as long as you refrain from popping the collar and avoid company logo wear (unless you work for any of the top polo shirt makers). I recommend the Ralph Lauren "Custom Fit", JL and Fred Perry.

Stay tuned for 6-10 next week!

t r e n d s e t t i n g: iLTHY...

I was recently put on this new company called "I Love the Hype" who produces these seriously kick ass tees inspired by urban streetwear.

With some obvious influences from BAPE, this company produces some innovative and quite unique designs. Check out their NBA tees, especially those that feature the looming 2010/2011 NBA season draft choices.

With reasonable prices and some cool designs, cop some of their gear over @ their website.

BAPE X Stussy Collabo...

I love BAPE and I love Stussy...

Both brands have really created some memorable pieces and I've been a fan of each brand for some time. We've all heard/seen the collabos each of these brands have done over the last little while and they've finally decided to cross paths.

Scheduled to drop in Summer 2010, no news yet on what the pieces will be and how it will turn out but be sure that when they do release it will be some SERIOUS heat...

OF x Santastic! – KAWS Hasheem T-Shirt...

So you already know that I'm a huge fan of Japanese SW and one of my all time favs is Original Fake.

Although the creative mind behind the brand is from the States, his designs and vision are seriously on some next level stuff. OF has decided to do a collabo with Santastic! to create the Hasheem tee. If you remember, OF released a vinyl of Hasheem a while back. OF is always known to push the bar on what's considered acceptable and this tee is no different (check out the phrase on Hasheem's jersey).

This tee is a definite banger and if you want to cop it @ retail you'll need to be in Tokyo to secure yours between May 8th - 23rd.

c a l i : i n t ro...

Greetings from the City of Angels and happy holidays!

During my trip to L.A. I was fortunate enough to hit up a few key locations for my retail therapy; Fairfax & Melrose and the House of Hoops in the Beverly Center. If you're into the whole urban clothing scene, you'll know that the Fairfax & Melrose area is the prime location for your shops. On Melrose you'll find the likes of BAPE, Kidrobot, Crooks & Castle and Johnny Cupcakes. On Fairfax you'll find Supreme, Diamond Supply, Flight Club LA and The Hundreds. Wonder why some of these shops haven't hit Tdot? If you've been following the Spacemen and I, you'll know that during this week from the 26th-29th BAPE was holding their Pirate Store where you would have the opportunity to by previous season wear for 50%-70% off. The store was insane as usual and packed like crazy. I had to wait at least 30 mins to get into the store but it was worth it. Considering I went on the 27th the stuff wasn't too bad and I was still able to cop some gear at a significantly lower price. Something you rarely or ever see @ BAPE.

House of Hoops is Foot Lockers premium flagship store specializing in Nike Basketball attire and sneakers with some exclusives you won't see in other general stores. If you're from Canada then you've probably never had the chance to hit one up unless you've visited one in the States. I hit up the L.A. location which was located in the Beverly Centre and found that the store wasn't too bad. Granted I was in L.A. the general theme of the store was Kobe and Lebron (see Nike's MVP Puppets series)
.

Stay tuned for some more coverage from the City of Angels later this week

b a p e - p i r a t e s t o r e...

If you know me personally then you'll know I'm into BAPE and have been for some time now. Most people aren't feeling BAPE and that's cool cause you're entitled to your own opinion but I'm a BAPE man and will continue to support the brand.

With the recent success from their Pirate Shops Pop-Up shops across the world, BAPE will be opening up their doors stateside with a Pop-up shop in L.A. during the holiday season (Dec 26-29th)...

maxcak will be in L.A. @ that time so if you're in the city and heading to the Pop-Up shop (located @ BAPE's L.A. store) come over and say what's up!

I'll be the dude rocking the 1LoveT.O. shirt in Cali, rep'n TDot...

1 Love T.O. "Pop-Up" Shop - 12/16/2009

Peep the 1LoveT.O. Pop-Up shop opening up tomorrow for a one day ONLY event.

Pop Up Shop/Night Market is located @ “Nyood” (1096 Queen St. West, 2nd Floor)

It's pretty hard to describe what 1LoveT.O. is, but to some, it's merely a website featuring things goin on in Toronto. However, if you've paid attention to the grass roots/underground movement this site has created you'll notice that its more than just a website but rather a lifestyle... I've had the pleasure of meeting one of the masterminds behind the site and I can truly say that 1LoveT.O. has mad love for T.O.

Cop a tee and show your love for the city that's the coldest...
